The NAME of Jesus for the salvation of the world.

The NAME of Jesus for the salvation of the world.
It does not mean that "name" alone can do anything, but because it belongs to the Holy of Holies, to the Son of the Most High, to the Deliverer. It is therefore a fearsome, holy, and revealing name for the salvific mission of the Son of God. To use Jesus' name to do good is a sign of rapprochement with Him and recognition of His person. In a way, it is a hidden admiration, but it pretends to manifest itself. Anyone who uses the name of Jesus can gradually walk in His direction.

2. To act in the name of Jesus means to submit to the mode of His action, having the same liberating interest in people. A very serious problem arises when many use this name to raise material goods, to exploit people, to manipulate consciences and to misrepresent the Gospel itself. Today, as is well known, sectarian groups, using the Word of God, the name of Jesus, for the sole purpose of profit, grow in a frightening way. In this situation, proclaiming the name of Jesus is not a benefit, but a way to eliminate its strength and relativize its meaning. On the other hand, many, however, come to know Jesus. Thus, it is not appropriate to fight against those who profess Him, not being in tune with Him, for in the end, He will overcome the Truth, for the Name of Jesus is strong enough to transform the place where He is.

3. It is not for the disciples to prevent others from speaking in the name of Jesus. This is not your mission. They were given the mission of announcing and witnessing the truth according to the teachings of the Master. Their concern should be to proclaim worthily the Word of God, witnessing it between men and women, going to every corner of the earth. The desire of imprisoning Jesus in the universe of his concepts and way of thinking does not fit with the reality of the disciples; it is not for them to be masters of Christ, but their legitimate envoys. They should be tolerant and remain in tune with Christ and available to the same liberating practice of the Master. The disciples must be aware of their intimacy with Jesus and of the truth they have learned, and also the certainty of their missions and identification with the Light of the world, also becoming lights.

4. Jesus wanted to identify himself with his disciples. He takes care of each one as if of himself. Whoever welcomes a disciple of his own is welcome to him, whoever drinks a glass of water from his own will not be without reward. In each disciple, love for Jesus is manifested. They are the "little ones" who believe, those who left everything exclusively for Jesus, who became the reason for their lives. Jesus loves them in such a way that he does not admit to being scandalized, diverted from salvation, pushed into another reality that is communion with God. Unhappy of him who divert a disciple from Jesus. It is seen that his disciples are not full of pride and full of themselves, but men and women who live in the simplicity of faith, in moral obedience and in the availability demanded by the Gospel.

5. Three things are important in the context of Israel to indicate who actually lives in the presence of the Lord: the hand, as a sign of Christian praxis, of life according to the way of thinking and acting of Jesus Christ; the foot, as indicative of the journey to the Cross, with Christ and in Christ; and the eye, referring to seeing what is loved by God and deepening in life according to the truth. In other words, if the whole person does not place himself totally at God's disposal for the good of all, he is lost. Salvation is for those who turn absolutely to God and put themselves at the disposal of the good of those who are loved by the Lord. The symbolism that goes from the eye to the foot indicates the totality of the person in the exercise of what obligatorily liberates the man. So to be disposed to evil is to turn the direction of existence without God, which means hell.

A strong and affectionate hug.

Father José Erinaldo
