THINK ABOUT TRUE LOVE
The disciples are invited to experience the faith more deeply and to be courageous. For this, only faith in God will be able to defend them from the fear of the world. Their fortress is not found in themselves or in worldly institutions of any kind. Only God is the ROCK of their lives. After Jesus' ascension, the Holy Spirit will fill their lives, open them ever more deeply to the truth, make them more confident, courageous, enthusiastic, more determined and passionate about the mission they will have to face throughout the world. In addition, they will become temples of God.
Despite a context of departure, since Jesus will ascend to the Father, the centrality of the text is established by the situation of the disciples in expectation of the return of the Master, Friend, Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. The return of Jesus, which will certainly take place, also happens in the disciples today through faith, love and the life of prayer. Thus, each Christian, through a life of communion with God and with others, experiences the return of the Master of Nazareth in his life. For those who live according to Jesus Christ, their address with Him in paradise is reserved. After all, whoever becomes a disciple of Christ prepares for a life of eternity at His side.
Thomas was not yet clear enough. He lacked the light to understand the goal and the road. Jesus, in turn, points out the Way. The goal will be a consequence in the life of those who follow the right road. It is not about any path. The world presents dead ends, many trails, wide paths without horizons, roads without direction, full of traps. Because they are pleasurable, they attract many. The path presented by Jesus is Himself, because He is the TRUTH and the LIFE. He is not only aware of the truth and of life. He IS that reality. His whole life was turned to the truth, manifested in love and mercy. His whole being expresses what He really is. He taught nothing else but His own reality, a necessary condition for the salvation of all creation.
The truth, according to the evangelist John, is not limited to the Greek philosophical mentality of the essence of the thing itself, nor to the relationship with God through contempt for history, as the Gnostics wanted, but the divine plan of salvation accomplished through Jesus Christ in history. Jesus Christ is the Father's Reason, He is the Truth by which the world was created and by which all creation will be saved. Whoever does not reach the Son of God will not find the Truth. The Truth became visible in Jesus Christ, who revealed to the world the reality of God as a COMMUNION OF THREE PEOPLE, a communion that is dear to all humanity and that will only be possible by listening to the Word, by faith and by the knowledge of Jesus and vital experience with him.
