Open your heart to god

Open your heart to god
Jairus, one of the chiefs of the synagogue, begs Jesus to heal his daughter. In the way the scene takes place, one expresses a faith-trust of Jairus, who could see in Jesus the presence of the Kingdom of God. Beyond any religious question, it was clear in Jairus that Jesus had power over nature and man. In begging for the release of his daughter, Jairus demonstrates his confidence in the liberating Messiah. To reach this conclusion, surely a tremendous Jewish barrier was being undone. Add to this the multitude wanting to see and touch Jesus.

2. Before the healing of Jairus's daughter, another case is put on the scene: a woman, who had suffered a hemorrhage twelve years ago. "He suffered in the hands of many doctors," he had only to trust the one who passed by with the crowd. Surely she had heard of Jesus. Science can not always do everything. It is the biggest mistake anyone finds that science answers all questions. It's even foolish. That woman, unable to cure by science, faces the difficulty imposed by the crowd and touches Jesus. His touch was not only physical but also supernatural. She touched Jesus in a salvific way, by a gesture of total surrender. To Jesus' question "Who touched me?" His disciples and the people responded rationally in view of the tumult of the people. Jesus, for his part, feels the touch of salvation, of those who yearn for total liberation. The woman was healed in the physical and in the soul, only faith being enough for her.

3. Meanwhile, Jairus, anxious for the release of his daughter, realizes how much it is necessary to believe beyond human weaknesses. With the news of his daughter's death, why abuse the Master any more? Already dead, what to do now? There was no more solution, for her daughter was already dead. So thought those who told Jairus the news. But Jesus comforted him, saying, "Do not be afraid, but just have faith." Jairus trusted in the words of Jesus and went with him to his house, where the mastery of the rational reigned during the funeral: they mocked Jesus when he said that the girl was not dead, but she slept. It is interesting that where reason alone reigns there is too much noise, I would shout, for each one wishes to have more reason than the other. Jesus shows that all this is unnecessary, it is illusion, fantasy. No one else was having it there: FAITH.

4. Jairus fought against everything he believed to approach Jesus in order to free his 12-year-old daughter. He, in fact, represents the need for all Israel, represented in the 12 years of the girl, to open to the Messiah, to the novelty of the presence of the Kingdom of God in Jesus Christ. The hemorrhoid, in turn, reminds us of the need for everyone in any part of the world to face any difficulty in reaching Jesus, the only one capable of truly liberating man. Both Jairus and the hemorrhoid needed to take the legitimate step of faith: to believe not in the miracle, but to meet what the miracle indicates: God; both needed to move from a faith-trust to a total faith in God and his work. Such a passage being possible seeing the miracle of the resurrection, which in this case is not the same thing as the resurrection of Christ, but already identifies it, including the presence of the apostles Peter, James and John, the same as the Transfiguration.

A strong and affectionate hug.
