Know the love of Christ that surpasses all knowledge.

Reading of Saint Paul's Letter to the Ephesians 3:8-12.14-19 Brothers: 8 I, who am the last of all saints, I received this grace to announce to the pagans the unfathomable riches of Christ 9 and to show everyone how God accomplishes the mystery always hidden within him, the creator of the universe. 10 Thus, henceforth, the authorities and powers in the heavens know, thanks to the Church, the manifold wisdom of God, 11 according to the eternal design which he performed on Jesus Christ our Lord. 12 In Christ we have, by faith in him, the freedom to draw closer to God with complete confidence. 14 That's why I bow my knees before the Father, 15 from whom each and every family is named after him, in heaven and on earth. 16 May he grant you, according to the riches of his glory, be strengthened by his Spirit, as for the inner man; 17 may he make to dwell, by faith, Christ in your hearts, may you be rooted and founded in love. 18 You will then have the ability to understand, with all the saints, what is the width, the length, the height, the depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ, that surpasses all knowledge, so that you may be accumulated until receive all the fullness of God. Word of the Lord. GOSPEL A soldier opened his side with a spear and immediately blood and water came out. Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to John 19:31-37 31 It was the day of preparation for Easter. The Jews wanted to avoid for the bodies to remain on the cross during Saturday, because that Saturday was a solemn feast day. Then they asked Pilate to order the legs of those crucified to be broken and take them off the cross. 32 The soldiers went and broke a man's legs and then the other who were crucified with Jesus. 33 As they approached Jesus, and seeing that he was already dead, they did not break his legs; 34 but a soldier opened his side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out. 35 He who saw it bears witness, and testimony of him is true; and he knows he speaks the truth, so that you may also believe. 36 This happened to fulfill the Scripture, which says, "They shall not break any of his bones." 37 And another Scripture says: "They will look at the one they pierced." Word of Salvation. The image of the Crucified generates in us an attitude of contemplation and deep meditation. We are facing the maximum expression of the total surrender of our Savior, Jesus Christ. It is the fulfillment of the evangelist's words: “Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end” (John 13:1). And it reminds us of the central point of the fourth Gospel: “God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). “One of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out”: blood represents life; water represents the Holy Spirit, which Jesus gives to the Father and the community. From death springs life. So Jesus' death was not in vain. It is his glorification. It is the redemption of the entire human race. My heart is moved within. Reading of the Prophecy of Hosea 11,1.3-4.8c-9 Thus says the Lord: 1 "When Israel was a child, I already loved him, and from Egypt I called my son. 3 I taught Ephraim to take his first steps, I took him in my arms, but they didn't recognize that I cared for them. 4 I attracted them with ties of humanity, with bonds of love; it was for them like someone holding a child, and I lowered myself to feeding them. 8c My heart moves inside and burns with compassion. 9 I will not give vent to my anger, I will not destroy Ephraim again, I am God, and not man; the saint among you, and I will not use terror." Word of the Lord. Responsorial Psalm Is 12,2-3.4bcd.5-6 (R.3) A. With joy you will drink from the fountain of salvation. two Behold the God, my Savior, I trust and fear nothing; * The Lord is my strength, my praise and salvation. A. 3 With joy you will drink from the fountain of salvation. * 4 And you will say on that day, "Give praise to the Lord, invoke his holy name, announce his wonders, * among the peoples proclaim that his name is the most sublime. A. 5 Singing praise to our God, who performed wonders and portents, * publish throughout the earth his great wonders! 6 Rejoice in singing, O inhabitants of Zion, * for the Holy God of Israel is great among you!"
