Keeping the commandments is a way of reaching God, this life will pass and what we will take from it is love for others. Love taught by Jesus.
Jesus began to manifest to his disciples that he needed to go to Jerusalem and suffer greatly from the elders, the princes of the priests and the scribes; he would be killed and resurrected on the third day.
22 Peter then began to challenge him and protest in these terms: “May God not allow this, Lord! This will not happen to you! ”
23 But Jesus, turning to him, said to him: “Get away, Satan! You are a scandal to me; your thoughts are not of God, but of men! ”
24 Then Jesus said to his disciples: “If anyone wants to come with me, renounce yourself, take up your cross and follow me.
25 For he who wants to save his life will lose it; but he who has sacrificed his life for my sake will recover it.
26 What good will it do for a man to win the whole world if he comes to harm his life? Or what will a man give in exchange for his life? ...
27 For the Son of Man will come in the glory of his Father with his angels, and then he will reward each one according to his works. ”Glory to you, Lord.
