They also began to preach to the Greeks,
announcing to them the Good News of the Lord Jesus.
Reading of the Acts of the Apostles 11,19-26
In those days,
19
those who had scattered
because of the persecution that followed the death of Stephen,
arrived in Phenicia, on the island of Cyprus
and the city of Antioch,
although they did not preach the Word
to anyone who was not a Jew.
20
However, some of them,
inhabitants of Cyprus and the city of Cyrene,
arrived in Antioch
and they began to preach also to the Greeks,
announcing to them the Good News of the Lord Jesus.
21
And the hand of the Lord was with them.
Many people believed the Gospel
and converted to the Lord.
22
The news reached the ears of the Church
who was in Jerusalem.
So they sent Barnabas to Antioch.
23
When Barnabas arrived
and he saw the grace that God had given,
he was very happy and exhorted everyone
so that they would remain faithful to the Lord,
with firmness of heart.
24
It's just that he was a good man,
full of the Holy Spirit and faith.
And a great multitude adhered to the Lord.
25
Then Barnabas went to Tarsus,
looking for Saul.
26
Having found Saul, he took him to Antioch.
They spent a whole year working together
in that church,
and they instructed a large crowd.
In Antioch the disciples were, for the first time,
called with the name of Christians.
Word of the Lord.
Responsorial psalm
Ps 86(87),1-3.4-5.6-7 (R. Ps 116[117],1a)
R. Sing praises to the Lord, all people.
Or: Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah.
1
The Lord loves the city *
which he founded on Monte Santo;
two
he loves the gates of Zion *
more than the houses of Jacob.
3
They say glorious things *
of the City of the Lord. A.
4
"I remember Egypt and Babylon *
among my venerators.
In Philistia or in Tire †
or in the country of Ethiopia, *
this or that one was born.
5
But of Zion it is said: †
"Every man was born in her; *
God is his security." R.
6
God writes down in his book, †
where all peoples are registered: *
"That's where these were born."
7
And so all together *
singing they will rejoice;
and, dancing, they will exclaim: *
"Our sources are in you!" A.
Acclamation to the Gospel
John 10:27
R. Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah.
V. My sheep listen to my voice,
I know them and they follow me.
GOSPEL
I and the Father are one.
Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to John 10:22-30
22
It was celebrated in Jerusalem
the feast of the Dedication of the Temple.
It was winter.
23
Jesus walked through the Temple,
in Solomon's Porch.
24
The Jews surrounded him and said:
"How long will you leave us in doubt?
If you are the Messiah, tell us openly."
25
Jesus replied:
"I already told you, but you don't believe it.
The works I do in my Father's name
bear witness to me;
26
but you do not believe,
because you are not of my sheep.
27
My sheep listen to my voice,
I know them and they follow me.
28
I give them eternal life
and they will never be lost.
And no one will snatch them out of my hand.
29
My Father, who gave me these sheep,
is bigger than everyone,
and no one can snatch them out of the Father's hand.
30
I and the Father are one."
Word of Salvation.
