I am the light of the world; He who follows me does not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.

I am the light of the world; He who follows me does not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.

  FIRST READING

Separate for me Barnabas and Saul.

Reading of the Acts of the Apostles 12,24-13,5a

In those days,

24

the word of the Lord grew

and it spread more and more.

25

Barnabas and Saul, having completed their ministry,

returned from Jerusalem,

bringing with him John, called Mark.

13.1

In the Church of Antioch, there were prophets and doctors.

They were: Barnabas, Simeon, called the Black,

Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen,

who was raised together with Herod and Saul.

two

One day, while celebrating the liturgy,

in honor of the Lord, and fasted,

the Holy Spirit said:

"Separate for me Barnabas and Saul,

in order to do the work

to which I have called you."

3

So they fasted and prayed,

laid their hands on Barnabas and Saul,

and they let us go.

4

Sent by the Holy Spirit,

Barnabas and Saul went down to Seleucia

and thence they sailed to Cyprus.

5a

When they arrived at Salamis,

began to proclaim the Word of God

in Jewish synagogues.

They had John as their helper.

Word of the Lord.

and his salvation among the people. A.

5

Let the whole earth rejoice, *

for you judge the universe with justice;

govern people with righteousness, *

and you guide the nations throughout the earth. A.

6

May the nations glorify you, O Lord, *

May all nations glorify you!

8

May the Lord and our God bless us, *

and let the ends of the whole earth respect him! A.

Acclamation to the Gospel

John 8:12

R. Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah.

V. I am the light of the world;

     the one who follows me

     do not walk in darkness,

but he will have the light of life.

GOSPEL

I came into the world as light.

Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to John 12:44-50

In that time:

44

Jesus exclaimed in a loud voice:

"Whoever believes in me,

You don't believe in me,

but in him who sent me.

45

Who sees me,

see the one who sent me.

46

I came into the world as light,

so that everyone who believes in me

do not remain in darkness.

47

If anyone hears my words

and not observe them,

I don't judge him,

because I did not come to judge the world,

but to save him.

48

Who rejects me and does not accept my words

You already have your judge:

the word I spoke

will judge him on the last day.

49

Because I didn't speak up for myself,

but the Father, who sent me,

he is the one who ordered me what I should say and say.

50

And I know that his commandment is eternal life.

So what do I say,

I say it as the Father told me."

Word of Salvation.
