Gospel: Luke 19,45-48

My sheep hear my voice, / I know them and they follow me (John 10:27). – R.

Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Luke – At that time, 45Jesus entered the temple and began to expel the sellers. 46And he said, “It is written, ‘My house will be a house of prayer.’ Yet you have made it a den of thieves.” 47Jesus taught every day in the temple. The high priests, the teachers of the Law and the notables of the people were looking for a way to kill him. 48But they didn't know what to do, because all the people were fascinated when they heard Jesus speak. – Word of salvation.

Reflection:

Jesus touches the most sacred point of religion, the temple. God wanted a house of meeting and prayer and they built a temple that became a “thieves’ shelter”. With his act of sovereign authority in purifying the temple, Jesus reestablishes the true relationship between human beings and God. This attitude will lead to your death. Even knowing the risk he was taking, Jesus “taught every day in the temple”. The brevity of his life requires him to make the most of the remaining hours in order to complete the work that the Father entrusted to him. Meanwhile, his opponents plot the best circumstances to kill him. They are unsure about this point, after all they are plotting a historic murder. And they know that “all the people were attracted when they heard Jesus speak”.

Evangelho: Lucas 19,45-48

Proclamação do Evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Lucas – Naquele tempo, 45Jesus entrou no templo e começou a expulsar os vendedores. 46E disse: “Está escrito: ‘Minha casa será casa de oração’. No entanto, vós fizestes dela um antro de ladrões”. 47Jesus ensinava todos os dias no templo. Os sumos sacerdotes, os mestres da Lei e os notáveis do povo procuravam modo de matá-lo. 48Mas não sabiam o que fazer, porque o povo todo ficava fascinado quando ouvia Jesus falar. – Palavra da salvação.

Reflexão:

Jesus toca no ponto mais sagrado da religião, o templo. Deus queria uma casa de reunião e oração e eles construíram um templo que se converteu em “abrigo de ladrões”. Com seu ato de autoridade soberana ao purificar o templo, Jesus restabelece a verdadeira relação entre o ser humano e Deus. Essa atitude lhe acarretará a morte. Mesmo sabendo do risco que corria, Jesus “ensinava todos os dias no templo”. A brevidade de sua vida impõe que ele aproveite ao máximo as horas restantes a fim de levar a termo a obra que o Pai lhe confiou. Enquanto isso, seus adversários tramam qual será a melhor circunstância para matá-lo. Sobre esse ponto estão inseguros, afinal estão tramando um homicídio histórico. E sabem que “o povo todo ficava atraído, ao ouvir Jesus falar”.
