Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Luke – At that time, Jesus said to his disciples: 12 “Before these things happen, you will be arrested and persecuted; you will be handed over to the synagogues and put in prison; you will be brought before kings and governors because of my name. 13This will be the time when you will testify to your faith. 14Make a firm determination not to plan your own defense in advance, 15because I will give you words so accurate that none of your enemies will be able to resist or counter you. 16You will be betrayed even by your own parents, brothers, relatives and friends. And they will kill some of you. 17Everyone will hate you because of my name. 18But you will not lose a single hair from your head. 19It is by standing firm that you will earn a living!” – Word of salvation.

Reflection:

The book of the Acts of the Apostles proves, through countless facts, the veracity of Jesus' speech. It is the upheaval caused by the implementation of the Kingdom of God. Why does the preaching of the Gospel cause so much turmoil in society? Because there is a group of powerful people who refuse to change their attitudes of arrogance, exploitation and oppression of the people. They want to maintain their privileges. Then a relentless struggle ensues between the disciples of Jesus, who courageously preach the Good News, and those who prefer to live with injustice. Christians are repressed, imprisoned, taken to court to account for their attitudes and their faith. But they have the guarantee of Jesus’ assistance: “I will give you words and wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to resist or refute.”

E eles matarão alguns de vós. 17Todos vos odiarão por causa do meu nome. 18Mas vós não perdereis um só fio de cabelo da vossa cabeça. 19É permanecendo firmes que ireis ganhar a vida!” – Palavra da salvação.

Reflexão:

O livro dos Atos dos Apóstolos comprova, mediante inúmeros fatos, a veracidade desse discurso de Jesus. É a reviravolta provocada pela implantação do Reino de Deus. Por que a pregação do Evangelho causa tanta agitação na sociedade? Porque há um grupo de poderosos que se recusam a mudar suas atitudes de prepotência, exploração e opressão do povo. Querem manter seus privilégios. Então se trava uma luta sem tréguas entre os discípulos de Jesus, que corajosamente pregam a Boa-nova, e aqueles que preferem conviver com a injustiça. Cristãos e cristãs são reprimidos, aprisionados, levados aos tribunais para prestar conta de suas atitudes e de sua fé. Mas têm a garantia da assistência de Jesus: “Eu darei a vocês palavras e sabedoria, às quais nenhum dos adversários conseguirá resistir ou rebater”.
