Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Luke – At that time, 11Jesus added a parable, because he was close to Jerusalem and they thought that the Kingdom of God would arrive soon. 12Then Jesus said, “A noble man went to a distant country to be crowned king and then return. 13He then called ten of his employees, gave each one a hundred pieces of silver and said, 'Try to negotiate until I return.' 14But his fellow citizens hated him and sent an embassy after him, saying, 'We do not want this man to reign over us.' 15But the man was crowned king and returned. He sent for the employees to whom he had given the money to find out how much each one had profited. 16The first one arrived and said, 'Sir, the hundred coins yielded ten times as much.' 17The man said, ‘Well done, good servant. Because you were faithful in small things, receive the government of ten cities.' 18The second arrived and said, 'Sir, the hundred coins yielded five times as much.' 19The man also said to him, 'You also receive the government of five cities.' 20The other servant came and said, 'Sir, here are your hundred coins, which I kept in a handkerchief, 21because I was afraid of you, because you are a severe man. You receive what you did not give and reap what you did not sow’. 22The man said, 'You wicked servant, I judge you by your own mouth. You knew that I am a severe man, that I receive what I did not give and I reap what I did not sow. 23So why didn't you deposit my money in the bank? When it arrives, I would withdraw it with interest’. 24Then he said to those present, 'Take the hundred coins from him and give them to the one who has a thousand.' 25Those present said, 'Lord, this man already has a thousand coins!' 26He replied, 'I tell you, to everyone who already has more will be given; but from him who has nothing, even what he has will be taken away. 27And as for these enemies, who did not want me to reign over them, bring them here and kill them in front of me.'” 28Jesus walked ahead of the disciples, going up to Jerusalem. – Word of salvation.

Reflection:

The noble man (Jesus) travels to a distant country (Father's house) to get the title of king (his death) and returns later (resurrection) for judgment. The evil people do not accept the Messiah: “We do not want this man to reign over us”. The end of the parable hints at the tragic end of the ungrateful. The employees who make the hundred coins bear fruit will take part in the government of the Kingdom. The useless and fearful employee, who has produced nothing, will have no part in the Kingdom. God seeks in us the fruits, the good works, based on the qualities that he himself gave us. The concluding sentence is a program for members of the Christian community: “To everyone who has, to him will be given.” In the Kingdom of God, whoever “produces” has within him the treasure, the pearl; Those who don’t “produce” are empty inside.

Proclamação do Evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Lucas – Naquele tempo, 11Jesus acrescentou uma parábola, porque estava perto de Jerusalém e eles pensavam que o Reino de Deus ia chegar logo. 12Então Jesus disse: “Um homem nobre partiu para um país distante a fim de ser coroado rei e depois voltar. 13Chamou então dez dos seus empregados, entregou cem moedas de prata a cada um e disse: ‘Procurai negociar até que eu volte’. 14Seus concidadãos, porém, o odiavam e enviaram uma embaixada atrás dele, dizendo: ‘Nós não queremos que esse homem reine sobre nós’. 15Mas o homem foi coroado rei e voltou. Mandou chamar os empregados, aos quais havia dado o dinheiro, a fim de saber quanto cada um havia lucrado. 16O primeiro chegou e disse: ‘Senhor, as cem moedas renderam dez vezes mais’. 17O homem disse: ‘Muito bem, servo bom. Como foste fiel em coisas pequenas, recebe o governo de dez cidades’. 18O segundo chegou e disse: ‘Senhor, as cem moedas renderam cinco vezes mais’. 19O homem disse também a este: ‘Recebe tu também o governo de cinco cidades’. 20Chegou o outro empregado e disse: ‘Senhor, aqui estão as tuas cem moedas, que guardei num lenço, 21pois eu tinha medo de ti, porque és um homem severo. Recebes o que não deste e colhes o que não semeaste’. 22O homem disse: ‘Servo mau, eu te julgo pela tua própria boca. Tu sabias que eu sou um homem severo, que recebo o que não dei e colho o que não semeei. 23Então, por que tu não depositaste meu dinheiro no banco? Ao chegar, eu o retiraria com juros’. 24Depois disse aos que estavam aí presentes: ‘Tirai dele as cem moedas e dai-as àquele que tem mil’. 25Os presentes disseram: ‘Senhor, esse já tem mil moedas!’ 26Ele respondeu: ‘Eu vos digo, a todo aquele que já possui será dado mais ainda; mas àquele que nada tem será tirado até mesmo o que tem. 27E quanto a esses inimigos, que não queriam que eu reinasse sobre eles, trazei-os aqui e matai-os na minha frente'”. 28Jesus caminhava à frente dos discípulos, subindo para Jerusalém. – Palavra da salvação.

Reflexão:

O homem nobre (Jesus) viaja para um país distante (casa do Pai) para conseguir o título de rei (sua morte) e volta depois (ressurreição) para o julgamento. O povo mau não aceita o Messias: “Não queremos que esse homem reine sobre nós”. O final da parábola insinua o final trágico dos ingratos. Os empregados que fazem frutificar as cem moedas tomarão parte no governo do Reino. O empregado inútil e medroso, que nada produziu, não terá parte no Reino. Deus procura em nós os frutos, as boas obras, com base nas qualidades que ele mesmo nos concedeu. A sentença conclusiva é um programa para os membros da comunidade cristã: “A todo aquele que tem, lhe será dado”. No Reino de Deus, quem “produz” tem dentro de si o tesouro, a pérola; quem não “produz”, está vazio por dentro.
