The Lamb who was slain is worthy of receiving power, divinity, wisdom, strength and honor. To him glory and power through the ages

  First Reading: Ezekiel 34,11-12,15-17

Reading of Ezekiel's prophecy – 11This is what the Lord God says: “See! I myself will look for my sheep and take care of them. 12As a shepherd takes care of his flock by day, when he is among the scattered sheep, so I will take care of my sheep and rescue them from all the places where they were scattered on a day of clouds and darkness. 15I myself will feed my sheep and let them rest - declares the Lord God. 16I will look for the lost sheep, bring back the lost one, bandage the one with the broken leg, strengthen the sick one, and watch over the fat and strong sheep. I will pasture them according to law. 17As for you, my sheep – thus says the Lord God – I will make justice between one sheep and another, between rams and goats.” - Word of the Lord.

Responsorial Psalm: 22(23)

The Lord is the shepherd who leads me; / I don't lack anything.

1. Through green meadows and meadows / he takes me to rest. / To the restful waters he guides me / and restores my strength. – R.

2. You prepare a table in front of me, / in full view of the enemy, / and with oil you anoint my head; / my cup overflows. – R.

3. Happiness and all good will follow me / throughout my life; / and in the house of the Lord I will dwell / for infinite times. – R.

Second Reading: 1 Corinthians 15:20-26:28

Reading of the first letter of Saint Paul to the Corinthians – Brothers, 20in reality, Christ rose from the dead as the firstfruits of those who died. 21For by a man came death, and it is also by a man that the resurrection of the dead comes. 22As in Adam all die, so in Christ all will come to life again. 23But each according to a certain order: first, Christ, as firstfruits; then, those who belong to Christ, at the time of his coming. 24Next will be the end, when he hands over the kingship to God the Father, after destroying every principality and every power and strength. 25For he must reign until all his enemies are under his feet. 26The last enemy to be destroyed is death. 28And when all things are subjected to him, then the Son himself will submit to him who subjected all things to him, so that God may be all in all. - Word of the Lord.

Gospel: Matthew 25,31-46

Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah.

Blessed is he who comes, / who comes in the name of the Lord; / and the Kingdom that comes be blessed; / to what comes and to his Kingdom, praise! (Mc 11,10) – R.

Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Matthew – At that time, Jesus said to his disciples: 31 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, accompanied by all the angels, then he will sit on his glorious throne. 32All the peoples of the earth will be gathered before him, and he will separate them one from another, just as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33And he will place the sheep on his right and the goats on his left. 34Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father! Receive as your inheritance the Kingdom that my Father prepared for you since the creation of the world! 35For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat; I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink; I was a foreigner and you welcomed me into your home; 36I was naked and you clothed me; I was sick and you took care of me; I was in prison and you came to visit me’. 37Then the righteous will ask him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you? Thirsty and we gave you something to drink? 38When did we see you as a stranger and welcome you into our home, without clothes and clothe you? 39When did we see you sick or in prison and come to visit you?' 40Then the King will answer them: 'Truly I tell you, every time you did this to one of the least of my brothers, you did it to me!' 41Then the King will say to those on his left, 'Get away from me, you cursed ones! Go into eternal fire, prepared for the devil and his angels. 42For I was hungry and you gave me no food; I was thirsty and you gave me no drink; 43I was a foreigner and you did not welcome me into your home; I was naked and you did not clothe me; I was sick and in prison and you didn’t come to visit me’. 44And they will also answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty, a foreigner or naked, sick or in prison, and did not serve you?' 45Then the King will answer them: 'Truly I tell you, every time If you did not do this to one of these little ones, you did not do it to me!’ 46Therefore, these will go to eternal punishment, while the righteous will go to eternal life.” – Word of salvation.

Reflection:

Saint John of the Cross summarizes, in one sentence, the scene of the final judgment: “In the evening of life, we will be examined about love”. Jesus clarifies that it is love translated into concrete actions, love that helps those in need. By serving the victims of an unjust social system, we are loving.
