Let us think of the Lord.

Let us think of the Lord.
Jo 16,29-33
1. "Behold, now thou speakest plainly, and wearest no more figures. Now we know that you know everything and that you do not need anyone to question you. Therefore, we believe that you have come from God. " In a context of questions such as the return and return of Jesus and the joy of the disciples, today's text presents three important parts that involve the enthusiasm of the disciples, a response of Jesus not expected by His disciples And a not discouraging admonition to them. As for their enthusiasm, there is a manifestation of joy, followed also by a naiveté before the mystery that is Jesus. Here there is not yet a lucidity of faith, as they did in experiencing the Risen Christ. They are seen to be "green" in the way they speak and express what they feel. They lacked the knowledge of Jesus through pain, that is, through the cross, rejection and excommunication of the religious life of Israel and of society. They would have to meet the Crucified Master, killed as a thug, a "cursed of Yahweh" (cf. Dt 21,23).
2. "Did Jesus believe now? Behold, the hour cometh-and is come-that ye shall be scattered every one to his own, and leave me alone. " Jesus 'unacceptable response reveals the fragility of the disciples' enthusiasm, because it is as if they speak from a rational manifestation, from an ignorance about the reality of a donated life, which demands denunciations, sufferings, fatigue, pains , Cross and even death because of what one loves. Moreover, it is as if they had imprisoned that man who speaks with authority, who loves as no one has ever loved on the face of the earth, who performs miracles, who cares for all, and who is most intelligent. In that case, their vision is of those who have found a perfect man, but not the Lord and Savior. Such a vision is opposed by Jesus, who throws before His own the shame of being abandoned by them, precisely those who say they know the Master. Well, they will abandon him, like cowards, because the image they have of the Master is not the one that springs from the true faith, which is the Easter gift and gift. In fact, Jesus is abandoned by those who hold the worldview, the worldly attachments, the illusions of human dreams. The great shame will happen when they discover that the "great man" is really the Lord.
3. "These things have I spoken unto you, that ye may have peace in me. In the world, I will have tribulations. But, have courage! I have conquered the world "! In saying that he was going to be abandoned, Jesus did not want to destroy the hopes of His disciples. In His words there is a deep demand of maturity in the faith, which will only be possible by the discovery of the truth about Jesus, by the courage to face the challenges of a world that hates truth, love and life, by the decision to stand by Who serves, who makes his life a gift, who does not fear death, but who puts himself absolutely for the good of the other, even if for him comes abandonment, rejection and even excommunication, because of fidelity To God and to the salvation of mankind. Only on the right side, on the side of the Truth, which is Christ, will they find peace, even in the midst of "war", persecution and tribulations; Only through total adherence to the Risen Christ, certain of the victory accomplished by Him, His disciples, His Church will conquer and manifest to the world the joy of the children of God. Even though living in effective prayer, joy and vision of God, the Church will face trial, bankruptcy, and contempt, but must be continually vigilant, without any presumption, but all obedient, God-centered, and totally at the service of salvation in quality Of Servant in the Servant Jesus Christ.
A strong and affectionate hug.
JOSÉ ERINALDO
