THE FATHER'S SON ACCOMPANIES US

THE FATHER'S SON ACCOMPANIES US
Jesus continues to pass through the area of Galilee (Tire, Sidonia, Decápole), a pagan territory, where he performs the miracle in the life of the daughter of the pagan woman Syro-Phoenician (7,24-30), who was satisfied only with crumb, the surplus of the children's bread, a tremendous display of humility and faith. Besides this, today also the miracle of the deaf-mute, through gestures that indicate another baptismal ritual. The presence of Jesus in this territory, according to Mc theology, aims to bring salvation to the pagans, grant them the grace to be also participants in the New and Eternal Covenant. There is, in Mc's text, a universal sense of FAITH.2. The way Jesus performs the miracle on the deaf-mute should not be surprising, as it is not the most important. It does not cease to be curious, since it was not seen in other miracles performed by Jesus. The gesture of Jesus does not concern a therapeutic action or even a magical action. He does not play with people, much less with the good he is doing for their salvation. Mc presents this gesture as a sign of man's opening to a new reality. It is a symbolic gesture of tremendous strength. Here the fulfillment of the promises of Is 35: 5-6 is revealed: "Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, the ears of the deaf shall be uncovered, the lame shall leap as a deer, and the tongue of the dumb shall sing."3. Jesus touches the ear of the deaf, allowing him to listen to the Word of God, giving him the grace to deepen this knowledge of theology, the science of God, to escape from the voices of the world and to be all for God. Then with His saliva touches his tongue, a sign that the word that will be proclaimed by that man will not be his, but of God, it is the same Christ, the Eternal Word of the Father, the Word of Salvation. Now that man can proclaim the Word that is not his, but God's, can announce the Word that has been given to him.4. The deafness and dumbness of this man indicate the deaf-mute of the world without faith, of those who shut themselves completely to the grace of God, who do not want to know the things of God. Therefore, a world without listening to the Word of God and, consequently, without prophets, is a world without faith, love and hope; a selfish world, individualistic and without horizon; a world of strength, oppression and illusion. The deaf-mute, now healed, symbolizes those who have opened up and will open themselves to the faith and, for this very reason, to baptism. The gestures of Jesus indicate the baptismal moment. By faith and by baptism a new man is born, determined to listen to God and ready to proclaim Him. It is the Church's mission to eliminate the world's deafness and deafness as soon as possible. Urge this liberating mission in the power of the Spirit of God.A strong and affectionate hug.Fr. José Erinaldo
