The decisive moment of salvation has arrived, the paschal moment of the glorification of Jesus Christ.

The decisive moment of salvation has arrived, the paschal moment of the glorification of Jesus Christ. Completed his activities and evangelizing mission, now Jesus must head towards Jerusalem, the place of the prophets and the fulfillment of all that he had to do. Jerusalem is not only the geographical city, but especially the heavenly city, the goal for all. So Jesus goes up to Jerusalem, at the same time he goes to the cross and to the Father. It is clearly a theological “path”. Here it is not a question of a “romantic” path, but of constant hardness. Jesus' mission will be with suffering, rejection, betrayal, humiliation and death. According to the evangelist, only through the cross will he reach glorification (Lk 24:26), and Jesus knew that all this would happen, he even prepared his disciples for that moment (cf. Mt 16:21). Aware that his action was a divine work for the salvation of all, he set out decisively for Jerusalem.

He "hardened His face" (εστηρισεν), that is, made the firm decision (...). In other words, He threw Himself totally into the Father's hands in order that His work might be accomplished completely, for God's time had come. He who was always all of the Father, did not measure efforts to give himself absolutely. His decision found barriers in Samaria, in Jerusalem and, before, rejected by his own family. It is common, when we really decide to go down a road, to find people who want to prevent us from walking, to be serious vocation obstacles. This should help us to strengthen our decisions. It is as if these rejections are a preparation for rejection to the cross. Samaria did not give Jesus or his disciples hospitality; Jerusalem drove him out; the nations persecuted and martyred his followers. Well then, He who came to welcome, to save, was rejected as a "bandit", a "evildoer", a "disgrace". He was not welcomed by those he was welcoming; he who did not need and brought saving food, was despised by those who were hungry for his grace. Given this, what to do? Not fearing suffering and the cross is the first sign of a vocation, of a true call from God. Deciding for God is, in fact, being aware of the infinite treasure it embraces and the insignificance of what the world represents.

How did the disciples James and John react to the Samaritans' rejection? They, despite living with Jesus, had not yet overcome the logic of fanaticism, power and facing setbacks and differences in the same currency. They still maintained the idea of a messiah contrary to what was in the heart of Jesus, who came to be the Servant Messiah, not the one of power, domination, prestige and success; they wanted to act like fanatics of a past idea rejected by the Master. Certainly, the rejection of the Samaritans was linked to the possibility of Jesus, going to Jerusalem, maintaining the logic of the leaders of Israel. It is important to remember that when Jesus explained to the Samaritan woman true worship in "spirit and truth", there was complete acceptance of Him. In any case, glory passes through the cross, through pain, through death. Those who fear rejection and loneliness have not yet understood what it means to be a disciple of Christ (Benedict XVI). Acting as a disciple means, above all, being patient with the other person's time. It is difficult, but God knows the exact time of each one. It does not, however, mean not acting, but fearlessly sowing, caring and letting God reap. The disciple's joy is that of one who sows in the joy of a future and excellent harvest. Christ's disciples must understand that the only fire that must be released into the world is that of the Holy Spirit (cf. Lk 12:49; Acts 2:2-4).

The text above shows Jesus' long and difficult path to Jerusalem. In addition to facing the rejection of the Samaritans, he had to severely correct his disciples who still shared a fanatical, ideological and destructive mentality of the other in view of himself. He leaves Galilee, choosing His disciples, preparing them, doing good to all, but not always being understood. Some even want to stay with Him, but they still encounter financial, personal and family obstacles. Some deprive themselves of the truth for the ease of having a life in the pleasures offered by the business world, their own instinct and the family lap. Indeed, it is not easy to let go of a world of personal pleasures, satisfactions, apparent accomplishments and strong cultures. Once accustomed to the enslavement of oneself, the exploitation of the other and the deceptive way of life in which one takes advantage of everything, abandoning all this would mean slavery. That is, following Jesus Christ, in this case, is what they understand as being enslaved, that is, unable to experience what they feel the way they want. In fact, what they live has already blinded them so that they can no longer see true freedom. While they live according to the flesh, they travel a path of death. Let's live for God.

O DOMINGO . VAMOS NA CASA DO SENHOR. ELE NOS ESPERA COM O SEU AMOR

OREMOS PELA CONVERSÃO DO MUNDO E PELAS ALMAS

I keep imagining Jesus' moment of prayer with his disciples. He being God in prayer, and the disciples there beside him also calling God Father and receiving the same example of how to put himself in a prayerful attitude. Luke makes a point of emphasizing that this prayer is in a secluded place, a place apart. This is what we do on Sundays: all together in the Holy Temple to celebrate the Eucharist. There the priest and the people, around the altar of the Eucharist and of the Word, together in prayer, praising, adoring and blessing the Lord of life. As disciples, we not only pray to the Lord, but we also feed on him: through the Word and the Eucharist. What an eternal moment! There we live the mystery of the death and resurrection of the Lord. Well, it is precisely by placing prayer at the beginning of Jesus' great questions that Luke begins this day's text. This is one of the characteristics of the Master. His life condition is prayerful, for He is all for His Father and is always turned to the Father, interceding for all of His. He is the Just Innocent already mentioned in Zec 12:10-11; 13:1, but also the One who was wounded to death only because he was light to all. How to understand Him?

2. "And who do you say that I am?" Jesus doesn't want a scientific definition of Him, he doesn't want concepts about his person. What interests Him is the adherence of His disciples to Him and to His work. Knowledge alone does not say anything, it does not elevate anyone. Often it only serves to deceive those who know it into the illusion of a universe of pride and self-sufficiency. It is not this kind of knowledge that serves in the discovery of Jesus. Here it is an experience in the intimacy of a life of encounter, of openness to the action of God and of faith. The apostles lived with Jesus, listened to Him, learned from Him, saw His miracles and experienced His merciful action. Jesus' life with them was the most perfect school of life and faith. So, confirming what they say about HIM doesn't mean anything, because what they say doesn't match the Master's reality. Knowing the reality of Jesus requires personal experience and self-giving, renunciation of worldly mentality and acceptance of God's logic. It is not enough to like Jesus because He loved, cared for people and taught what is most beautiful about God and human beings; knowledge without adherence saves no one.

3. In Matt, Peter says, "You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God." In Luke he says only "the Christ of God." In both texts, Peter tells the truth about the Master, but he does not know the depth of this statement. In fact, it was professed by inspiration of God. Peter did not imagine Jesus as the Messiah according to God's mind, but according to the minds of the Jews. Even so, Jesus respects his claim. At the end of the text of Mt, unlike Lk, he adds, despite the success of the answer, a Peter still unaware of God's plan at the moment when Jesus said that he would suffer a lot and die on the part of the elders, the high priests and the teachers of the Law, but that he would rise again on the third day. Peter, manifests himself and, once again, demonstrates not knowing the type of Messiah that Jesus was. In both Peter's statements, there is tremendous ignorance about the Savior's Person and mission. Now, it is precisely in following Jesus the Servant that a true disciple will be made. It means that doctrinal knowledge is not enough, certainly important, but insufficient without following the person of Jesus Christ.

4. Jesus Christ is aware of all that will go through because of His surrender for the salvation of mankind. He knows that the world will make him suffer, reject him, kill him, but it will not prevent his victory, which will come on the "Third Day". Knowing well the end for each prophet, He does not shy away from what the world is preparing for him by using the ingredients of hatred, lies, illusion, despair and inordinate passion for power. On the other hand, Jesus does not allow himself to be seduced by anything that prevents him from doing exclusively the will of the Father, from being obedient to the point of death, from being YES in every moment of his life and from not abandoning his love for the salvation of those who destroy it.

5. What they do with Christ, they will also do with his followers. That's why Jesus says: "If anyone wants to follow me, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow me". There are three important verbs here: to renounce (self), take up (the cross each day) and follow (Jesus). All three concern the very reality of Jesus in history: he did not cling to his divine condition and became flesh to save; in history, he was not afraid of suffering, being rejected, he was faithful until death, performed as a total surrender of himself; everything being done in accordance with the will of the Father for the salvific good of all. This model of conscious acceptance of the mission as a surrender of oneself, abandoning one's own will, not fearing the rejection of the world, dying to save us.

I am the living bread that came down from heaven; / whoever eats this bread will always live! (Jn 6,51) - R.

HOLY SPIRIT YOU WHO CLARIFY EVERYTHING FOR ME, ILLUMINATE ALL MY WAYS SO THAT I ACHIEVE MY IDEAL.

YOU WHO GIVE ME THE DIVINE GIFT TO FORGIVE AND FORGET THE EVIL THEY DO ME AND THAT ALL THE MOMENTS OF MY LIFE IS WITH YOU.

I WANT IN THIS SHORT DIALOGUE TO THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING AND CONFIRM ONCE AGAIN THAT I NEVER WANT TO BE SEPARATED FROM YOU AGAIN, HOWEVER THE MATERIAL ILLUSION IS, IT WILL NOT BE THE MINIMUM OF WILL THAT I FEEL ONE DAY TO BE WITH YOU AND ALL MY BROTHERS IN PERPETUAL GLORY. THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN.

Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Luke – At that time, 11 Jesus welcomed the crowds, spoke to them about the Kingdom of God and healed all those in need. 12 In the afternoon he was coming. The twelve apostles approached Jesus and said, "Send the crowd away so that they can go to the surrounding villages and fields to look for lodging and food, for we are in a deserted place." 13But Jesus said, "You give them something to eat." They replied, “We only have five loaves and two fish. Unless we were going to buy food for all these people.” 14 There were about five thousand men there. But Jesus said to the disciples, "Send the people to sit down in groups of fifty." 15The disciples did so, and they all sat down. 16Then Jesus took the five loaves and the two fish, looked up to heaven, blessed them, broke them, and gave them to the disciples to distribute to the multitude. 17They all ate and were satisfied. And twelve baskets of the leftover pieces were picked up. – Word of salvation.

Reflection:

Jesus welcomes the crowds, speaks to them about the Kingdom and heals the needy. The end of the day, however, is approaching, and what to do with the crowd in need of food and lodging? The disciples suggest dismissing the crowd, it is the easiest and most comfortable solution. The Master, however, summons the disciples not to omit themselves and try to organize the people into groups, collect what was among them and, after Jesus' blessing, share among all. Result: everyone ate and still had leftovers. It is the miracle of sharing. In the world there is no lack of food, what exists is the lack of sharing. Where there is no sharing, someone accumulates and many are left in misery. Where there is sharing, everyone can have the bare minimum for a dignified life. Only by sharing will we have a world without misery and without miserable people. If there is still hunger in the world, it is a sign that society has not yet discovered the value of sharing. By giving his life for humanity, Jesus showed us the most sublime sharing. In the celebration of the body and blood of Christ, we commemorate this supreme donation of the Master, who wants us to be in solidarity with the needs of the people. The scene of the miracle of the breaking of the bread was perpetuated in the Eucharist, as a gesture of God's gift shared among all, so that all may have life.
