Concluding the Sermon on the Mount

Concluding the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus proposes to his disciples a progress beyond the ordinary, the daily life of the people, more or less of life, of those who think that to say "Lord, Lord" is sufficient for the conquest of the Kingdom of God, But they continue to follow their whims, their old ideas, their interests. Many people think that acting in this way is prudent enough, for they do what their intelligence points out as right. Of course, many do not even call on the name of the Lord. The disciple is invited to overcome this reality until he reaches the essential, hidden from many eyes and hearts.
2. It is necessary to do the will of the Father; Put into practice what He desires. The question is: what is the will of the Father? At the transfiguration, the Father said, "This is my beloved Son, listen to Him." First of all, to do the will of the Father is to LISTEN to His Son Jesus Christ, which is His Word, the Word of Salvation. Listening requires attention, awareness, respect, obedience, affection, and decision. The disciple is invited to listen attentively to the Word of the Father and, once involved in it, to decide to proclaim it throughout the world, through the witness of a life in love with the cause of the Kingdom of God.
3. To preach the Word with enthusiasm, but indifferent to it in day-to-day practice, is to be a false prophet, for it indicates the existence of an interest other than the will of the Lord. Many deceive with public manifestations of cures and deliverances, apparent miracles and charming expressions, as if they were manifestations of the Spirit of God, appeal to music, to the show, the spectacle, in order to attract innocent people, because otherwise , Would not have their "trade" working. They read the Bible, they decorate the Word of God, they interpret as they want, they judge the others, they are the only "saints", they are already living in heaven, they defame the Church of Christ, they send all those who do not share their ideas to hell, They are tyrants, they are disciples of their unbalanced emotions and friends of MONEY.
4. To do the Father's will is also to put into practice the Law of God, his Commandments. Even here, there is the proof of love for Him. The disciple says "Lord, Lord" with attitudes, with love, with enchantment in the eyes and in the soul, with his own life. The martyrs teach how to say "Lord, Lord." To give one's life for the other is to say to him, "I love you." So did Jesus, so did thousands of Christians by Jesus Christ, still the Church continues to do in the present times and will never fail to do so while this world exists. In every Christian, in every disciple there is a call to live the Lord's Commandments in full: to be all to God and all to the salvation of men.
5. To do the will of the Father is to live the way Jesus lived, being all to the Father and all to humanity, in the condition of Servant, obedient, absolutely rooted in the saving goal of humanity. His whole life here was a revelation of God, of man, of truth, of love, of life, and of the highest mission of humanity. In his life, he fought the thirst for power in the world, the ambition of men, the exploration of one another, the arrogance of leaders and intellectuals, the trap of attachment to earthly things, himself and others, and the folly of Man to think that in himself he already possesses the necessary, that he is self-sufficient, or even absolutely autonomous.
6. To do the Father's will is to listen to the Son, to fulfill the Law of God and to live the condition of a servant, embraced by Jesus. Only through Jesus Christ, following in his footsteps, living as he lived, will the disciple put into practice the will of God and enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. In this way, the disciple will be building on the Rock, which is Christ Himself. Outside of Christ, there is no future, for it is foolish to build without foundation, without truth, without dispensing with the Word of God.
A strong and affectionate hug.

Fr. José Erinaldo
