COME, SON OF OUR FATHER

COME, SON OF OUR FATHER
Jesus stands before the opening of a needy people and the rejection of the Pharisees. To the disciples and to the people, Jesus performs miracles, teaches with authority and expels the demons; but for the hypocritical Pharisees, it gives them the terribly harsh silence as a denial of their unbelief, of the temptation they provoke, of the manifestation of a faith as a spectacle, of the demanding rationality they desire, without any deep inwardness of the truth which is God manifested in Jesus Christ. In fact, they do not support Jesus as Messiah of God and, for this very reason, they close their eyes to the presence of their Lord among them.
2. God can not be placed in the limits of men. God does not enter our schemes, our foolish pretensions. Our rational world is blind to God, but it is, on the other hand, highly proud, conceiving itself capable of limiting even God. The Pharisees represent in this text all the desire for divine manipulation desired by the rational man. They want the proof that God is really doing, even though there is before them the miracles, teachings, and witness of love that Jesus performed. They live in a context of messianic expectation, but they are closed to the Messiah, because they do not want to lose the position they have won in history. In other words, they do not want to lose the divine place they have taken, expelling the liberating God himself.
3. Faith is the adhesion of the whole person to God and his work; it is the total involvement of the person with what she loves; is to cast himself without fear into God, letting himself be led by Him; is a gift of God, acquired by listening to his Word and not by reflection before the world. Faith is DOM. Such faith is not perceived by Jesus in the Pharisees. Jesus is disappointed with them and silences before the unbelief they manifest. Because of this unbelief and unfaithfulness together, this people became enslaved to Babylon, but now, acting in the same way, is not only becoming a slave, but also rejected not by God's will, but by choice and in a blind way. Through Jesus, the Father forms his New People, with the New and Eternal Covenant. It is in Christ that the Father will have His People.
A strong and affectionate hug.
