Proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ according to Matthew – At that time, Jesus said to the crowds: 16 “With whom will I compare this generation? They are like children sitting in the squares, who shout to their colleagues, saying: 17‘We played the flute and you didn’t dance. But wisdom was recognized on the basis of his works.” –We are at the door of the Lord's Christmas, and today the liturgy places us alongside the Virgin Mother in the contemplation of the Blessed Son who is coming. Mary, “the Mother of my Lord”, is seen not only by the affection of those who love God, but also, in a special way, by those who have the responsibility for transmitting the theological truth of the divine mystery among us. It is extremely important to go between the lines of the Scriptures in search of greater clarity regarding God's Revelation to us. In today's liturgy, in a special way, the Virgin Mary is the “place” of contemplation of the mystery of the Incarnation of the Word, the Little One made gigantic by the Grace of God, the blessed gaze that directs us to the beloved son, Jesus Christ, Immanuel , God with us.

Evangelho: Mateus 11,16-19

O Senhor há de vir, acorrei-lhe ao encontro; é o príncipe da paz. – R.

Proclamação do evangelho de Jesus Cristo segundo Mateus – Naquele tempo, disse Jesus às multidões: 16“Com quem vou comparar esta geração? São como crianças sentadas nas praças, que gritam para os colegas, dizendo: 17‘Tocamos flauta e vós não dançastes. Entoamos lamentações e vós não batestes no peito!’ 18Veio João, que não come nem bebe, e dizem: ‘Ele está com um demônio’. 19Veio o Filho do homem, que come e bebe, e dizem: ‘É um comilão e beberrão, amigo de cobradores de impostos e de pecadores’. Mas a sabedoria foi reconhecida com base em suas obras”. –Estamos às portas do Natal do Senhor, e hoje a liturgia nos coloca ao lado da Virgem Mãe na contemplação do Bendito Filho que vem. Maria, “a Mãe do meu Senhor”, é vista não somente pelo afeto de quem ama a Deus, mas ainda, de modo especial, pelos que têm a responsabilidade pela transmissão da verdade teológica do mistério divino no meio de nós. É sumamente importante adentrarmos nas entrelinhas das Escrituras em busca de maior clareza quanto à Revelação de Deus para nós. Na liturgia de hoje, de modo especial, a Virgem Maria é o “lugar” da contemplação do mistério da Encarnação do Verbo, a Pequenina agigantada pela Graça de Deus, o olhar bendito que nos direciona para o amado filho, Jesus Cristo, o Emanuel, Deus conosco.
