We welcome the announcement of the glory of the Lord, light that illuminates and brings together all humanity, and through the ways of faith we realize the encounter with the newborn Savior. ***

Reading: Isaiah 60.1-6

Reading of the book of the prophet Isaiah-1st, light the lights, Jerusalem, because thy light came, the glory of the Lord came upon you. It is the earth involved in darkness, and dark clouds cover the peoples; But the Lord appeared upon you, and His glory is already manifested on you. 3The peoples walk in your light, and the kings, to the glare of thy dawn. 4 Eye around and see, everyone gathered and came to you; Your children have come from afar with your daughters, loaded in your arms. 5The to see them, you will be radiant, with their hearts vibrating and beating hard, for with them will come the riches of an overseas and will show the power of their nations; 6 will be a flood of camels and dromedaries of Madiã and EFA to cover you; All of Sabbath will come, bringing gold and incense and proclaiming the glory of the Lord. - Word of the Lord.

Second Reading: Ephesians 3,2-3.5-6

Reading of the Charter of St. Paul to the Ephesians - 2 Improans, if only I knew of grace that God has given me to realize his plan to your respect 3 and, by revelation, I was aware of the mystery. 5 This mystery, God did not make him know to the men of past generations, but has just revealed him now, by the Spirit, to his holy apostles and prophets: 6 The pagans are admitted to the same inheritance, members of the same body, are associated with the same promise in Jesus Christ through the Gospel. - Word of the Lord.

Gospel: Matthew 2: 1-12

Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah.

We saw your star in the East / And we came to worship the Lord (Mt 2:2). - R.

Proclamation of the Holy Gospel According to Matthew - 1st Born Jesus in the city of Bethlehem, Judea, in the time of King Herod, behold, some wizards of the East came to Jerusalem, as: “Where is the king of the Jews, who just born? We saw his star in the East and came to worship him. ” To know this, King Herod was disturbed, as well as the whole city of Jerusalem. 4 Reuning all the priests and the masters of the law asked them where the Messiah should be born. 5They answered: “In Bethlehem, in Judea, for it was written by the prophet: 6'E Tu, Bethlehem, land of Judah, by no means the smallest among the main cities of Judah, because a boss will be out of you who will be The pastor of Israel, my people '. 7Then Herod called the wizards secret and sought to know them carefully when the star had appeared. 8 After sent them to Bethlehem, saying, “Ide and seek to obtain exact information about the boy. And when you find him, let me know, so that I will love him too. ” 9 After hearing the king, they departed. And the star, who had seen in the East, went ahead of them, even stopping where the boy was. 10The to see the star again, the wizards felt a great joy. 11 When they entered the house, they saw the boy with Mary, his mother. They knelt before him and loved him. Then they opened their coffers and offered him gifts: gold, incense and myrrh. 12 -moved in a dream not to return to Herod, they returned to their land, following another way. - Word of salvation.

Reflection:

Jesus is born in Bethlehem, as a descendant of David, potentially legitimate successor. For Herod, the “newborn king of the Jews” is a dangerous rival to be eliminated. The strong opposition of the king and his allies is foreshadowed. On the other hand, the oriental wizards (understood of astronomy) have paid tribute to the baby Jesus. Herod says he wants to share this noble gesture, but he does it just to mislead his bad intentions! The star accompanies the wizards, indicates the place, and the meeting takes place: "They saw the boy with Mary, his mother, and knelt before him." Then the wizards give the pagan tribute to the infant king. The Church read, in this episode, the manifestation (epiphany) of the Savior to the pagans, making it clear that salvation is not the privilege of the Jews, but it is for all peoples.
