My heart said to you: I sought your face, it is your face, Lord, that I seek. Do not turn your face away from me! The readings invite us to be faithful to God's eternal plan of love for humanity, through which we receive all his blessings. Let us listen to what the Lord tells us.

First Reading: Genesis 22.1-2.9-13.15-18 Reading from the book of Genesis – In those days, 1God put Abraham to the test. Calling him, he said, “Abraham!” And he replied, “Here I am.” 2And God said, “Take your only son, Isaac, whom you love so much, and go to the land of Moriah and offer him there as a burnt offering on a mountain that I will show you.” 9When they arrived at the place indicated by God, Abraham built an altar, placed the wood on top, tied his son and placed him on the wood on top of the altar. 10Then he stretched out his hand, taking the knife to sacrifice his son. 11And behold, the angel of the Lord cried out from heaven, saying, “Abraham! Abraham!” He replied, “Here I am!” 12And the angel said to him, “Do not reach out against your son or do him any harm! Now I know that you fear God, for you did not deny me your only son.” 13Abraham, looking up, saw a ram caught in a thorn bush by its horns; He went and got him and offered him as a burnt offering in place of his son. 15The angel of the Lord called Abraham from heaven a second time, 16and said to him, “I swear by myself,” declares the Lord, “since you acted in this way and did not deny me your only son, 17I will bless you and make your number so numerous. offspring like the stars in the sky and like the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will conquer the cities of your enemies. 18Through your descendants all the nations of the earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed me.” - Word of the Lord. Responsorial Psalm: 115(116B) I will walk in the presence of God, / next to him in the land of the living. 1. I kept my faith, even saying: / “The suffering in my life is too much!” / The Lord is deeply felt / the death of his saints, his friends. – R. 2. Behold, I am your servant, O Lord, † your servant who was born of your handmaid; / but you broke the shackles of slavery for me! / Therefore I offer a sacrifice of praise, / calling on the holy name of the Lord. – R. 3. I will fulfill my promises to the Lord / in the presence of his gathered people; / in the courts of the house of the Lord, / in your midst, O city of Zion! – R. Second Reading: Romans 8:31-34 Reading of Saint Paul's letter to the Romans – Brothers, 31if God is for us, who can be against us? 32God, who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all, how could he not give us everything along with him? 33Who will accuse God's chosen ones? God, who declares them righteous? 34Who will condemn? Jesus Christ, who died, moreover, who rose again and is at the right hand of God, interceding for us? - Word of the Lord. Gospel: Mark 9,2-10 Praise to you, O Christ, king of eternal glory. In a resplendent cloud the voice of the Father was heard: / Behold my beloved Son, listen to him, all of you (Luke 9:35). – R. Proclamation of the holy Gospel according to Mark – At that time, 2Jesus took Peter, James and John with him and took them alone to a separate place on a high mountain. And he was transfigured before them. 3His clothes became bright and white, as no washerwoman on earth could bleach them. 4 Elijah and Moses appeared to him, and they were talking with Jesus. 5Then Peter spoke and said to Jesus, “Master, it is good for us to stay here. We will make three tents: one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” 6Peter didn't know what to say, because they were all very afraid. 7Then a cloud came down and covered them with its shadow. And a voice came out of the cloud: “This is my beloved Son. Listen to what he says!” 8And suddenly, looking around, they saw no one else except Jesus with them. 9As they came down from the mountain, Jesus ordered them not to tell anyone what they had seen until the Son of Man had risen from the dead. 10They observed this order, but they discussed among themselves what “rising from the dead” meant. – Word of salvation. Reflection: In the midst of intense activity with people thirsty to hear his Word, Jesus has a moment of glory. A proof that his mission is correct and that he acts according to the Father's will: “This is my beloved Son. Listen to him.” The choice of three witnesses was deliberate: Peter, James and John. These are the ones Jesus will also invite on the occasion of his passion (cf. Mc 14:33). On this occasion, so as not to panic or give up on the Master, they will strengthen themselves with the memory of the transfiguration, a sample of their anticipated glorification. Moses and Elijah, representatives of the entire Old Covenant, dialogue with Jesus. This fact confirms that Jesus is the center of salvation history. He comes to fulfill all the Law and the Prophets. From now on, it is to him that the Church must listen.
