The community of disciples was divided by ambition. Despite the presence of Jesus, the world was still within them. The governmental schemes of the world's leaders still served their interests. They had not been able to understand, until that moment, Christ's "scheme", the new way of seeing the human being and his vocation to God and his action for the good of man. Christ reveals to them the true meaning of power: the power to love, the power to serve, renouncing oneself. It will not be easy for this community to put Christ's logic into practice, but certainly, because of it, they will have the same fate as the Master in both the pain and the joy of the resurrection. The entire community, not only the sons of Zebedee, must delve more deeply into Christ's way of understanding salvation, in order to be able to transform itself and become an instrument of liberation for the world. The entire Church, even today, must be configured to Christ in the particular action of each disciple, of each baptized man or woman, in the life of all.

A warm and affectionate embrace. St. James the Greater - His Life (https://www.vaticannews.va/en/saint-of-the-day/07/25/s--james-the-greatest-apostle.html). Fisher of Men James, the brother of the Apostle John, is called “the Greater” to distinguish himself from the apostle of the same name, James of Alphaeus. His life changes radically when he accepts Jesus’ invitation to be a “fisher of men.” Later, according to the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus “saw two brothers, James of Zebedee and his brother John, who were preparing their nets in a boat with their father. They immediately left the boat and their father and followed him.” He and his brother had an impetuous character, so much so that Jesus gave them the nickname “Boanergés” (sons of thunder). On the Mount of Transfiguration and on that of agony, James witnessed the event of the Transfiguration, the glory of Jesus: “Jesus,” writes the Evangelist Matthew, “took Peter, James and John his brother and led them up a high mountain by themselves. He was transfigured before them; his face shone like the sun and his clothes became white as light.” This Apostle also witnessed Jesus’ agony in the Garden of Gethsemane: “He took Peter, James and John with him,” Mark recalls in his Gospel, “and Jesus began to be afraid and distressed.” First Apostle martyr Jesus foretold his martyrdom: “Can you drink the cup that I am about to drink?” James and John answered him: “We can.” His death is described in the Acts of the Apostles: “At that time, King Herod began to persecute some members of the Church. He had James, the brother of John, killed with the sword.” After his decapitation, according to the Golden Legend of the Dominican friar Jacopo de Varagine, his body was transferred to Spain. The tomb of JamesAccording to tradition, in the year 831, after a prodigious luminous phenomenon, near Mount Liberon, a tomb was discovered with the inscription: “Here lies Jacobus, son of Zebedee and Salome”. The place was called Campus stellae (“field of the star”), a name that later gave rise to the city of Santiago de Compostela. In 1075, construction began on the Basilica dedicated to him; since the Middle Ages, his Sanctuary has been a destination for pilgrimages, the first in Europe and then from all over the world.
