The one who protects and supports me is my God; It is the Lord who sustains my life. I want to offer you my sacrifice from the heart and with great joy (Ps 53,6.8).

The one who protects and supports me is my God; It is the Lord who sustains my life. I want to offer you my sacrifice from the heart and with great joy (Ps 53,6.8).

The word that the Lord puts in the mouths of his prophets is sown in people's hearts. Received in different ways, it will bear fruit in the hearts that adhere to it with sincerity and availability. Let us bless the Lord, who tells us “do not be afraid”, and let us persevere as faithful disciples and missionaries of Jesus Christ, announcing the justice of the Kingdom. First Reading: Jeremiah 1,1.4-10 Beginning of the book of the prophet Jeremiah – 1Words of Jeremiah, son of Helcias, one of the priests of Anathoth, of the tribe of Benjamin. 4The word of the Lord came to me, saying: 5“Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you; Before you left your mother's womb, I consecrated you and made you a prophet to the nations.” 6I said, “Ah! Lord God, I don’t know how to speak, I’m too young.” 7The Lord said to me, “Do not say that you are too young; you will go to everyone to whom I send you, and whatever I send you to say, you will say. 8Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to defend you,” says the Lord. 9The Lord stretched out his hand and touched my mouth and said to me, “Behold, I am putting my words in your mouth. 10I have appointed you today over peoples and kingdoms, with power to extirpate and destroy, to devastate and to tear down, to build and to plant.” - Word of the Lord. Responsorial Psalm: 70(71) My mouth will announce your righteousness. 1. I seek my refuge in you, Lord: / may I not be ashamed forever! / Because you are just, defend me and free me! / Listen to my voice, come and save me! – R. 2. Be a protective rock for me, / a very safe shelter that saves me! / Because you are my strength and my support, † my refuge, protection and security! / Free me, O my God, from the hands of the wicked. – R. 3. Because you are, O Lord God, my hope, / in you I have trusted since my youth! / You have been my support since before I was born, / from my mother's breast, my support. – R. 4. My mouth will announce every day / your justice and your countless graces. / You taught me from my youth, / and to this day I sing your wonders. – R. Gospel: Matthew 13:1-9 Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah. The seed is from God the word, / Christ is the sower, / everyone who finds him, / eternal life has found. – R. Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Matthew – 1That day, Jesus left home and went to sit on the shore of the Sea of Galilee. 2A large crowd gathered around him. That's why Jesus got into a boat and sat down, while the crowd stood on the beach. 3And he said many things to them in parables: “The sower went out to sow. 4While he was sowing, some seeds fell along the path, and the birds came and ate them. 5Other seeds fell on rocky ground, where there was not much soil. The seeds soon sprouted, because the earth was not deep. 6But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched and withered, because they had no root. 7Other seeds fell among the thorns. The thorns grew and choked the plants. 8Other seeds, however, fell on good soil and produced hundreds, sixty and thirty fruits per seed. 9He who has ears, let him hear!” – Word of salvation. Reflection: In his preaching, Jesus uses a resource capable of holding the attention of his listeners: telling parables. With a very precise objective, he builds the narrative of the sower and the various types of terrain. Knowing his listeners, Jesus knew that many, perhaps frightened by his demands, abandoned him in the first encounters. Others were euphoric; They even seemed to be willing to give their lives for Jesus. Fire of straw! Then they shrank and discreetly moved away. The parable of the sower challenges us to become aware of the quality of our adherence to Jesus. What are our convictions in following Jesus? What fruits (good works) are we producing to benefit the world thirsty for Kingdom values: justice, love and peace?
