At that time, people brought little children to Jesus so that he could place his hands on them and pray.

At that time, 13 people brought little children to Jesus so that he could place his hands on them and pray. But the disciples rebuked them. 14 Then Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not forbid them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." 15 After placing his hands on them, Jesus left.

The disciples' rebuking gesture indicates an action to protect the Master, so that he would not be bothered by the parents of those children. This attitude is a reflection of the society of Israel and of all Palestine. It is also a reflection of those who are unable to see people in their needs, values, and dignity. Such an action privileges authorities, people of renown, social status, and powerful men and women. Unlike Mark, Matthew did not add Jesus' reaction of indignation. In Mark, Jesus is outraged by this attitude of preventing children from approaching Him, because a disciple of His should never accept a mentality within the standards of worldliness, which ignores children, the poor and those who lead ordinary lives, who are not involved in anything that would give them fame and applause. This is the physiognomy of the economic system: the poor, children and the elderly are problems, because they produce nothing, since they simply consume. The objective of the system is PROFIT. Now, it is known that those who only incur expenses are marginalized. Jesus affirms that the Kingdom of God does not belong to the famous, to those who are valued by men, those who live off applause, flattery, worldly honors, lucrative successes, those who have many social roles, those who wear the mask of sympathy and of the "good guy". The Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like little children, who struggle with simplicity, who do not yet do anything that makes them suffer for useless things, who do not have the excessive ambition of disorderly profit, who are like the poor, concerned only with the day-to-day of their existence. The Kingdom of God belongs to those who place themselves, without fear, at the disposal of God's will, who are open to the Spirit of God and expect their reward only from the Lord. Jesus does not want to be protected by A or B, but to be reached by faith and love, by simplicity, honesty and availability. For Him, any kind of attachment to the fact that He is Master is abusive, because for Him the important thing is that everyone adhere to His Person. To adhere to Him with all one's heart, with all one's strength and with all one's soul, allowing oneself to be led by His Spirit. Anyone who has not yet found in Christ the meaning of their existence, the truth of their life, is a sign that they are still following the logic of the world, the mentality of those who rule. Jesus blesses those who approach him with a sincere heart and simplicity of soul. A strong and affectionate hug.
