A. 11 The living God is a protective shield, * and he saves those who have an upright heart. 12 God is a judge, and he judges with justice, * but he is a God who threatens every day. A. Acclamation to the Gospel Cf. Lc 8,15 A. Glory to Christ, eternal word of the Father, who is love! V. Happy are those who observe the word of the Lord, with an upright heart, and bear much fruit, persevering until the end! GOSPEL Will the Messiah come from Galilee? Proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to John 7:40-53 In that time, 40 when they heard the words of Jesus, some people in the crowd said: "This is truly the Prophet." 41 Others said, "He is the Messiah." But some objected: "Will the Messiah come from Galilee? 42 Does the Scripture not say that the Messiah will be of the offspring of David and he will come from Bethlehem, the town where David was from?" 43 Thus, there was division among the people because of Jesus. 44 Some wanted to arrest him, but no one laid hands on him. 45 So the Temple guards returned to the high priests and the Pharisees, and they asked them: "Why didn't you bring him?" 46 The guards responded: "No one ever spoke like this man." 47 Then the Pharisees said to them: "Are you also deceived? 48 Did any of the leaders or Pharisees Did you believe him? 49 But these people who do not know the Law, It's damn!" 50 But Nicodemus, one of the Pharisees, the one who had met Jesus previously, he said: 51 "Does our Law judge anyone, before listening to him and knowing what he did?" 52 They answered: "Are you also a Galilean, perhaps? Go study and you will see that no prophet emerges from Galilee.” 53 And each one returned to his home. Word of Salvation.
